How Terribly We’ve Strayed
Ike’s statement here reminds us of how thoroughly we’ve lost our way.
First, the U.S. military is the ultimate entitlement. Nothing whatsoever is ever done to curtail its growth. We call it our “Defense Department,” but it’s used to intimidate and/or attack various groups all around the globe.
Second, we have an entire political party now that couldn’t care less about those who are cold or hungry.

The technology of warfare is now horrendously expensive. unfortunately, military hardware is now a huge part of the US economy, in fact it could be said that manufacturing weapons is the on thing the US is good at manufacturing.
But blaming the GOP or the Trump administration is very unfair.
The Trump administration is the first administration that has enforced cost auditing and expanse reporting on the military.
So far, it must be admitted without a lot of success. this is the third year the US military will not reach auditing requirements,
The President has promised a wave of reform and dismissals if the Pentagon continues to fail to provide complete and comprehensive auditing and accounting verified by the inspector general and independent experts.
This has caused deep resentment in some of the higher echelons, while others agree and support the President’s reforms.
