Good News in Wind Energy, From Some Sources One Might Not Expect
Texas may be known for its oil, but it’s sure doing a good job with wind energy. Moreover, Duke Energy is best known for its coal-fired power plants, but here we have an announcement that Duke has opened a 200 megawatt (MW) facility, with 56 wind turbines each 3.6 MW from Danish firm Vestas.
And, as we said earlier about an offshore wind project, “We’re talkin’ big.” These guys are 590.5 feet tall, “some of the tallest” in the U.S. and able to “harness stronger winds.” Since power is proportional to the cube of the wind velocity, that’s critically important.
We’re getting there.
