Bravery in the U.S. Senate

Rightfully, Mitt Romney is getting a lot of atta-boys this week for the courage he showed in voting to convict Trump. He stood up and did what he believed to be right, knowing the consequences, i.e., being bathed in his colleagues’ opprobrium.

Romney, however, still has a political future.  One has to think that it’s only a matter of time before the Republican Party separates itself from the sheer criminality of Trump and re-establishes some sort of platform that honest and intelligent people can support, at which time Romney’s going to be quite attractive, if only for his impeachment vote.

I’m not sure the same can be said about Democrat Doug Jones.  Even though he went the way of 100% of his fellows in the party, he did so in Alabama, among the reddest states in the union.  Those boys down south aren’t too likely to want ol’ Doug in the senate a second after his term is over.

If I were Doug, I’d a) watch my back, and b) make plans to move far away from Dixie.

    Craig,

Of course you would admire anyone who cheers fir your team!

Mitt Romney, is an embittered member of the old Washington establishment who hates the way the brash populist Donald Trump has revitalized and dominates the GOP.

Romney especially hates all those new working class voters Trump has brought into the “club”.

Like a character from the movie “Caddyshack” Mitt Romney sees the “slobs” being let into the club previously reserved for “snobs”.

A bitter man, and like you, obsessed with hatred of the President’s success.
