Dead Asylum Seekers Are Not an Issue Here
A mere 138 dead Salvadorans, butchered by the violence they were desperately trying to escape? We can live with that.
What we can’t deal with, to use the words of Donald Trump verbatim, is the “Hispanic invasion of Texas.” He’s used the words “predator,” “invasion,” “alien,” “killer,” “criminal” and “animal” at his rallies while discussing immigration more than 500 times.
As a result, we have far more concern for dogs getting hit by cars.
Craig,
It must be very galling for you to witness the President’s border protection policies working. After all, it was you who said it couldn’t be done.
A combination of successful pressure on the Mexican Authorities to defend their Northern and Southern borders, plus the building of deterrence and greater vigilance has considerably stemmed the flow to a trickle.
Maintaining strict border policies and migration control is difficult for any first world nation.
Being born poor or in a third world country doesn’t automatically give me the right to wander around until I find somewhere I prefer!
Like most liberals, you wish to enjoy the benefits of a safe first world community, but hypocritically don’t want to get your hands dirty policing the policies that make your lifestyle possible.
Recently, a boy of 13 was rescued by police in California from nearly 6 years of slavery.
Little Miguel was suffering from a number of ailments, including HIV, acquired while enslaved by a child sex ring in the US.
Miguel was brought into the US by his “parents” illegally, and due to the outcry against separating children and careful processing he was released with his parents in California .
Sadly, they weren’t his parents. Instead Miguel and his 2 year o older “sister” were in the company of two very experienced people smugglers, operating as part of gang supplying a lucrative market.
Miguel’s “sister” fared slightly better, a young ‘Crips’ gang leader took a fancy to her and she died in a drive by shooting aged 14 and 7 months pregnant.
Miguel’s mother was kidnapped in Mexico and murdered in the brothel in which she was enslaved, the fate of her father is unknown as is the true identity of Miguel’s “sister”.
At least 40 to 60% of the women (and a high number of children) crossing the border illegally have been the victims of violent sexual assault on the way to America.
The tragedy for these unfortunate women doesn’t stop upon entering America. At least 10-15% have contracted incurable venereal “super bugs”. In addition many suffer from antibiotic resistant TB and other strains of diseases.
Tragic, certainly, but so is allowing the people to contract these ailment and spread them to the US population.
This “trail of tears” will only stop when illegal migrants realize there is no hope of entering the US and if they do, they will be quickly apprehended and sent back.
People smuggling is a vile trade. Only by removing the profit can it be stopped.
