Trump’s Stock in Trade: Outrage
Of the numerous consistencies to Donald Trump’s activities as U.S. President, among the clearest is outrageous behavior. It’s as if, each day, he asks himself, “What can I do in the next hour or so that will be so appalling as to capture the world’s attention, and distract attention from what I did yesterday?”
Today we have the coronavirus, a phenomenon that has sent the Dow plummeting 2000 points in just a couple of days on the threat of a pandemic that could cause illness to millions of people and cripple the world economy, We have a president, who, under normal circumstances, would offer calm reassurance, and deploy the country’s top scientists to address the danger.
Trump’s reaction: I’ll put Pence in charge. Not only is he completely incompetent generally, but better still, he doesn’t believe in science. That should send Americans straight through the roof.
