Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves Rejects a State Lockdown for COVID-19: “Mississippi’s Never Gonna be China.”

“Mississippi’s never going to be China.” True. In China, children get good educations and compete effectively in the world economy. Right now, there are 362,000 Chinese students earning doctorate degrees.

Meanwhile, Mississippi ranks 48th in education among the 50 states.

And yes, this is the same governor Reeves from yesterday’s post, chronicling how some Mississippi mayors had put controls in place to help fight the spread of coronavirus—until Gov. Tate Reeves issued an order overruling mayors and reopening many businesses.

FWIW, some southern/midwestern states are actually applying intelligence to keeping this pandemic in check; Kansas, for example, is showing real leadership.
