Piers Morgan: Trump’s Self-aggrandizement Is the Wrong Tool for the Job in the Pandemic
Television journalist Piers Morgan, co-host of the U.K.’s Good Morning Britain, is a “personal friend of Donald Trump,” and has certainly been an important supporter. Up until now, that is.
Check out this fantastic video, in which Morgan calls out the American president for his egregious butchering of the coronavirus pandemic. It’s not just bad decision-making. Rather, he points out that Trump, as perhaps the most important person in the world right now, is exhibiting none of the characteristics required at this critical point in world history: honesty, accuracy, calm-headedness, and empathy. Instead, he uses every opportunity for self-aggrandizement, self-justification, and partisan politics. Every press briefing is a political rally.
This is what we signed up for, America. We may have survived four years of Donald Trump reasonably well had there been no crisis. But there is one, and now we’re getting what we so richly deserve.
