Trump Elicits Hate
I don’t know who “Big Daddy Wickster” is, but a) I like his name, and b) he’s a better man than I. It’s true Trump has accentuated my own (and millions of others’) capacity to hate, but mine had been in place since long before Trump became a public figure.
Global-scale atrocities are committed by sociopaths somewhere around the world every day of every week. And while it’s possible that there are historians who believe that the United States is a “kinder and gentler” nation than most, I highly doubt that, looking through this list of American crimes against humanity.
So, what has Trump done vis-a-vis atrocious behavior? He’s certainly not the first president to flout domestic and international laws that are put into place to protect the basic human rights of people around the globe. However, he’s taken this to a new level with his abuse of children, coddling of dictators, pardoning war criminals, kicking people off healthcare, destroying the environment, encouraging race-based violence, and now, lying about the pandemic resulting in tens of thousands of deaths that could have been avoided had he been honest, and had he valued human life over his prospects for re-election.
There have been other bad actors in U.S. history, but without a doubt, Trump will be remembered as the single worst thing that ever happened to this country.
