Air Elevator

Here’s a home elevator that its creators say is “Powered by the Most Abundant Resource in the World… AIR!”

And here’s a discussion with their support team:

Support: Thank you for your interest in our Vacuum Elevators! How may we help you today?

Craig: Where does the energy come from?

Support:  Our vacuum elevators are Air Driven. The energy to make the elevator go up is derived from a normal 220 V electrical plug (similar to a washing machine) that powers our turbines. Going down is powered by gravity, no energy, making it cost effective and green.
We even have a new solar powered elevator that is powered by the sun.  Do you have any additional questions?
Craig: Is there enough power, even on a sunny day, to push a load up?
Support: Yes, it’s stored energy.
Craig: Oh, in batteries?
Support: That question I am not sure about. I would have to check with our engineering department.
Craig: Suppose the car is on the top floor, and is not used for a long period of time. Doesn’t it start to sink as the gasket leaks air?

Support: No, it’s held into place by a locking system.
Craig: Cool.  Thanks.
END OF CONVERSATION.
Well, to call this air-driven, i.e., to suggest that the power comes from air, is erroneous/misleading. Also, there is no way on Earth that this will be more energy efficient than an electric motor that moves the car directly.

What absurd greenwashing! Thanks for investigating and sharing. 🙂
