Good News from Arizona
From TerraScale: Even in the absence of state mandates, Arizona utilities are pushing to shift to clean energy by replacing coal plants with renewable energy backed batteries. Arizona’s biggest utility, Arizona Public Service announced its plan to achieve clean energy by 2050, despite a lack of state mandates requiring such a transition.
Nice going.
Politically, it’s likely that Arizona will accelerate the transition to clean energy after Trump leaves office.
As far as the state itself, Arizona is on the fence; it’s a very important swing state. It went for Trump in 2016 by 3.5% over Clinton, but other candidates got 7.3% of the votes (and that’s certainly not happening in 2020), and Biden currently holds a 3.1% lead in the polls.
