Civil Rights

The meme hear sounds good; it almost rolls off the tongue.  But it’s untrue.

Equal rights means, to take an example, that white people no longer have the right to ban people of color from their country clubs and tony neighborhoods.  It means that a racist presidential administration can no longer violate U.S. and international law, and lock Hispanic children in cages–regardless of how much joy they might derive from doing so.

Personally, I’m more than OK with this, but the garden-variety white American racist will fight it to the death.
