Solar Project Seems To Be a Joke
I’m going to say that this is a joke and not a real concept. Why?
a) It’s asinine. Philadelphia is at 40 degrees north latitude, so on average, you’re losing ~24% simply by installing solar on a flat roof, i.e., without orienting it towards the sun. Putting PV on the walls is even worse. The solar PV industry is under enough pressure that it doesn’t need to make matters even worse.
b) The numbers it quotes make this look even more ridiculous. It’s 176 lousy kilowatts, about 10 times the size of a typical American rooftop array?
While it’s true that there have been projects like this that were built merely for show, they send the message: “We don’t know what we’re talking about.”
Not buying it.
