Why Trump Won’t Drop His Hopeless Lawsuits

Yes, these lawsuits are “tearing at the heart of American democracy,” and the whole situation is going to get worse before it gets better.   The longer this drags out and the more venues, governors, senators, state courts and Supreme Court justices are involved along the way, the more furor will arise, the more violence will come as a result, the further the nation will be divided, and the greater the number of Americans will walk away convinced that the entirety of  U.S. election processes are fraudulent.

Trump is quite aware of this, but he couldn’t care less.  The disgrace of getting clobbered pales in comparison to the criminal prosecution that is about to ensue.  Even if the stakes weren’t so high, the idea that Trump has any loyalty to or affinity for anyone but himself is a cruel joke.
