In Trump’s Defense, …….

Apparently, Trump’s attorneys are going to present last summer’s violence in Portland, Oregon as defense in the Senate Impeachment trial.  What could possibly be the relevance, given that:

• Rioting in the streets and breaking into the U.S. Capitol building seem quite different.

• Deliberately killing innocent people (while attempting to kill hundreds) and looting also don’t equate.

• No one incited the people of Portland to act as they did.

• Most obviously, the commission of one crime doesn’t justify the commission of another.  Attorneys who represent accused murderers don’t say, “Well, other people have murdered too.”

It just can’t get much more inane.
