Trump in 2024?
If this guy thinks Trump is unlikely to run for president in 2024 at this point, wait till he takes into consideration the effects of the extremely likely events that will occur between now and then:
• Vigorous prosecution of 300+ participants in the January 6th insurrection at the U.S. Capitol that even his own people (like Mitch McConnell) say Trump incited. The very best Trump can hope for here in terms of his image is that of a traitor to his own people; they’re going to prison while he plays golf.
• Mounds of civil litigation and, more importantly, criminal prosecution that is already being aimed at Trump and his children. It’s hard to estimate the sheer volume of s*** that will come down on him/them from the federal and state levels in the form of fraud, tax evasion, obstruction, election tampering, violations of campaign finance laws and the emoluments clause of the Constitution, and Lord only knows what else. “Beating these raps” will be difficult, but coming away looking like an honest servant of the American people will be completely impossible.
• The destruction of his financial empire that apparently Deutsche Bank is in the process of engineering.
• Whatever revelations are uncovered about foreign involvement in election meddling on Trump’s behalf.
• Further fallout of Trump’s handling of the pandemic, that include both incompetence and, perhaps, criminal wrong-doing.
Right now, Trump still has some level of support from his base of cretins, amoral rich people, and a few spineless politicians. Yet it’s hard to imagine that any of this will still be intact 3.5 years hence.
