We All Support Our Troops
“Support our troops” truly is one of the best examples of mindless propaganda in the U.S. The slogan has been around since, probably, the Vietnam War, which featured, for the first time in our history, widespread opposition from the common American. Every one of us supports our troops, but some of us suggest that’s best accomplished by not leading them into slaughter to protect access to oil, or whatever the political/economic purpose of the day may be.
It’s not dissimilar to “My country, love it or leave it,” popularized at the same time. Dissidents don’t hate America; we hate lies, injustice, racism, the rape of the world’s environment, military aggresion and imperialism, cruelty, and stupidity.
