Slow Leaks in Trump’s Tires

As suggested in this cartoon, one thing is fairly clear at this point: there is nothing that Trump could possibly do or say that would turn most of his people against him. “Hitler did a lot of good things?”  Whatever. 

Having said that, there are a few slow leaks in Trump’s tires.  Of the ~600 Capitol Stormers that have been arrested thus far, many of them are in jail awaiting trial, because they represent huge risks to our society at this point.  I’m going to go out on a limb and guess that many of these people are sorry they ever heard of Donald Trump.  Even after they’re convicted and punished, their lives will be permanently disfigured when it comes to employment, not to mention personal reputation.

Another place air is hissing out is “stolen election” believers.  Initially, 88% of Republicans believed there was widespread voter fraud.  But as time passes, that number continues to decline.  It’s well under 50% at this point.

Where this will go is anyone’s guess.  Will it end in a bang or a whimper?  What effect will criminal prosecution have?

Most Americans would love to see a bang, something that completely shreds those tires, the equivalent of the device shown at right.
