The Pandemic: Questioning the Science

A reader sent me this and notes: You must simply comply! Do not question the authorities, do not not concern yourself with opposing views or you will be censored and ridiculed. Sounds like communism to (sic) all right.

I wouldn’t say you can’t question the authorities.  The science concerning the pandemic is not a secret.  If you have the training, you may want to look at what the scientists are doing and why they’re doing it. In the off chance you think they’re missing something, there are communication lines for expressing your thoughts.

But don’t conflate this with “doing your own research.”  Unless you have the scientific background, all you’re doing is going to websites whose content was created by who-knows-who, and corroborating what you already believe.

Btw, I’m lucky enough to have a dear old school chum who went on to become one of the nation’s top infectious disease doctors.  Every month or so, he participates on a Zoom call with about a dozen of us from our old school.  We like to start with a few minutes on the latest thinking on COVID-19.
