When This Is Over …..

One has to like the optimism, i.e., the assertion that Trumpism will one day have run its course, and American politics will regain some level of rationality.
The problem, however, is that only 20% of Republican voters believe the 2020 election was legitimate, and, as suggested here, there has been essentially no change in this figure a full year later. At this point, it appears that there is no mechanism to convince these people otherwise.
What this means going forward is that when a Republican presidential candidate loses, only a handful of GOP voters will accept the outcome as valid.
Loss of faith in American democracy may be a jumping off point to the actual annihilation of that democracy.
