Those unfamiliar with American lower-end eateries may not know of Cracker Barrel, a chain of country-themed restaurants, mostly found in the southeast portion of the nation (read: red states).

As one might suspect, patrons are generally not gourmets with high-powered metropolitan careers, and tend to get riled about social trends towards progress and enlightenment, of which plant-based meat is only one.

Thus the meme here should come as a surprise to no one.

As disappointed as many of us are that Elon Musk turned out to be a selfish pig, we need to give credit where it’s due, and that means acknowledging that most of his observations about energy and transportation are spot-on.

His comments here on hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles are a fine example.

I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest that Plato was referring to honoring truth over good men, i.e., men of honesty, bravery, and compassion.

I think it went without saying that we should not honor criminals and pathological liars.

We’ve all had the thought that life in the United States is like one of those anxiety dreams where we’re trying to escape danger, but we’re wading through molasses, and what initially looked like a small pond is revealed to be a large lake, and then perhaps an endless, shark-infested sea.

Here’s the latest chapter in the surreal: Another attempt on Trump’s part to fleece his many still-loyal supporters:

Former President Donald Trump asked supporters Friday in his online newsletter for donations toward his “impending” lawsuit against CNN for calling his claims of voter fraud regarding the 2020 presidential election “baseless,” according to The Daily Beast.

“I’m calling on my best and most dedicated supporters to add their names to stand with me in my impending lawsuit against fake news CNN,” wrote Trump. “Add your name immediately to show your support for my upcoming lawsuit against fake news CNN.”

If the nightmare does indeed have an end, it will not derive from any lack of energy from either Trump or the tens of millions of hateful morons who have his back.  The only possible alarm clock that can awake this country is criminal prosecution, and even that’s a guarantee of nothing whatsoever.

“(Televangelist) Rick Wiles thinks….”

Does he really?  I doubt it.

Isn’t it far more likely that he thinks his followers are stupid enough to believe this garbage, and wants them to open their wallets that much wider?

Over the past few years, many progressives have found themselves in the strange position of rooting for people we formerly detested, whether those are Big Oil executives, top FBI people, or prominent Republicans.

I just checked out what Dick Cheney is saying about Donald Trump, and I urge you to do the same. It wasn’t too long ago that I wanted to see the International Court of Justice charge Cheney with the war crime of “prosecuting an aggressive war” in Iraq.

Times change.

I have to confess that I’m unable to watch events like this, because I feel so sorry and embarrassed for someone who is getting destroyed on stage that I simple have to turn it off.

If you’ve ever seen a comedian “bomb” on stage, or listened to a public speaker so nervous it seems that someone is going to need to call an ambulance for him, you know exactly what I mean.

Why on Earth did Herschel Walker agree to debate an intelligent and well-prepared professional on a series of topics on which Walker is completely clueless?

Opponents of clean energy claim that adding more renewable sources to the grid mix makes it unreliable–but is that true?  A recent report from Yale 360, published by the Yale School of the Environment, takes on this important question.

A great deal of thought and analysis has gone into the findings here, including case studies from countries like Germany, that have far greater penetrations of wind and solar than our own.

Definitely worth checking out.

Look, if you think a glowing jobs report, or the plummeting gas prices, or the bipartisan spending agreements are going to cause Republicans to acknowledge any goodness in the Biden administration, you’re kidding yourself.

Biden will continue to stutter occasionally and Harris will keep chuckling, and the Fox News cameras are going to be ready and waiting.

With all our posts here on phasing out beef in favor of plant-based meat, I couldn’t resist publishing this photo, the result of a handful of cows that found their way into a newly built home and lived in it for a month before being noticed.
