Take a COOL Guess – the Fun Quiz on Clean Energy. Today’s Topic: Water Conservation
Question: Approximately how much water is wasted every year by EACH urinal in men’s bathrooms around the world?
Answer: Can be found at http://2greenenergy.com/cool-guess-answers/8732.
Relevance: Breakthroughs in waterless urinal technology save a significant volume of water, thus eliminating the greenhouse gas emissions that would have been associated with pumping and purifying. They also create far more hygenic and odor-free conditions — while saving their operators money with faster and easier maintenance. I’m not sure I could name another energy efficiency concept that has a broader array of benefits.
Recently, I’ve come across the folks at Falcon Waterfree Technologies, and have agreed to help them tell their story; it’s pretty impressive stuff.
In a world with less than 2% frsh water, it make no sense for people to waste 40,000 gallons of frsh water each year by flushing urinals. With new technologies, there is no need to use old fashion flush urinals. Go waterfree.
I’m with you all the way, Marc. I can’t wait to rip into this from a marketing and PR perspective.
While I don’t have flush free urinals in my house, I do collect the water from the water softener regeneration and the rinse cycles of my washing machine and use that to flush my toilet. I haven’t used “city water” to flush my toilet in more than 6 months. I am seriously considering a “grey water” system for my house to all of that is automatic also. Much water used in a house could be reused for a second time on various things including reusing washing machine rinse water for the wash cycle, flushing toilets and plant watering.
