Paper from Sugarcane Bagasse
A reader from Africa notes: I was watching this YouTube video of Mr. Shields speaking on renewable energy investment opportunities, and I must say we have something in common. I have been researching using sugarcane bagasse to make paper. I am from a small country in Africa that generates a lot of sugarcane, this is an opportunity that is too good to pass by and furthermore, there is a huge market for this product. I seek for your advice.
I had a contact in this space many years ago, but, after dealing with him for a month or two, I realized he was a fraud and I dropped him like a hot rock. Though I still believe in the concept, I have more or less lost touch with the whole industry. All I can tell you is that the world’s largest manufacturing facility for this is in India.
Having said that, the southeast part of the U.S. is in the process of becoming a haven for biomass, with its abundant sun and rain and its wealth of seaports. Already we have huge projects being put into place to harvest fast-growing trees, pelletize the wood, and ship it to Europe to offset enormous quantities of coal. The region isn’t sufficiently tropical for sugarcane, but I’m sure you are correct that there are great opportunities in Africa, in countries that have an appetite for biofuels. Sorry I can’t be more specific.
Good luck to you, and please stay in touch.
